Visa type: A-2 Extension

Student or Post-Doctoral Student and serves also children of B1 visa holders.

This visa is valid for one academic year and can be extended for the period of a student's studies up to one additional academic year.

The visa is granted at the institution's request.

Please note: Any student who wants to study in Israel must obtain an A-2 visa (Student visa) from the Israeli embassy/ consulate in the country of his residence.

Any student who will enter Israel with a B-2 visa (tourist visa) will not be allowed to change his visa to a student visa in Israel and will be forced to exit Israel, return to his home country, and obtain the student visa.

This visa also serves children of B1 visa holders.

Holders of A-2 Visa are NOT allowed to work in Israel!

The visa process is now digital. To start the process, you need to send us the following documents and forms, which we will process and send to the Ministry of Interior for approval.

Be aware that digital visa extension can be done only if you are here in
Israel. You cannot go abroad until you get a new visa by email.

Please provide us with the following completed documents:

  2. Multiple Entry visa application form signed & stamped by your advisor.
  3. BGU Internal form
  4. Copy of your current visa
  5. Copy of your Passport
  6. Copy of Your Health insurance policy
  7. Official certificate of studies
  8. A letter from your advisor, written in Hebrew on BGU letterhead, signed and stamped by the advisor.
    The letter must be addressed to the Beer- Sheva Office of the Ministry of the Interior, and contain information about your studies at BGU (year of study and time remained for completion), scholarship amount (if applicable) and accommodation information. 
    In case members of your family also need to renew their visa, the letter must specify their information including endeavors while you are studying.

  11. If your period of stay in Israel exceeds the"normal" allowed period, you are required to obtain an explanation letter from your supervisor, signed and stamped by the Rector of the University.
    The letter must include a sentence that this is the last extension for that specific degree.

    Once you make a payment please choose "foreigner" and "foreign card" otherwise the system asks for your Israeli ID that you don't have.
    To avoid a question regarding your ID you must choose "foreign card" but you still can use an Israeli one to pay.

Please don't write your student number while paying, only your passport number!

Please ensure you provide us with all the documents stated above, completed and signed appropriately.

Please send us all the documents in one email, each in PDF format, with the file name containing your last name and the name of the form.

Please send us all the documents at least one month before your current visa
expires.

  •  The interior office can always request any additional information or documentation at their discretion.

Once you get your visa by email, please print it and keep it with your passport. DO NOT permanently attach it to the passport.
