MA in Israel Studies

The Ben-Gurion Research Institute for The study of Israel and Zionism:
The Woodman-Scheller Israel Studies International Program (WSISIP) is a first-of-its-kind, globally accredited, English-speaking, multi-track program that provides students with comprehensive knowledge in key subjects and research methodologies related to the field of Israel Studies.

The program integrates historical and contemporary perspectives and focuses on the emergence of Zionist ideology and the global Jewish people, the pre-state communities under Ottoman and British rule, and the State of Israel.

The program has 2 tracks: 

  • Non-Thesis Track: Our NEW one-year program allows students to delve deep into the complexities of Israel while completing their MA in one year. 
  • Thesis Track: During the first year of study, students focus primarily on coursework and initial preparation for the thesis under the tutelage of experts in their respective fields.
    • Students who choose the 2-year track will be eligible to receive a full scholarship.

Registration Requirements

The registration conditions are correct at this time and are subject to change.

  • A BA or BSc degree from an accredited university or college with a grade point average equivalent to 80/100 or above in the fields of humanities or social sciences. Students who have a limited background in a related field, such as Jewish studies, Israel studies, or Middle East studies, will be required to take up to 6 additional credits of complementary courses based on individual assessment.

  • Non-native English speakers are required to submit a minimum TOEFL score of  90 or equivalent certification. It is at the discretion of the program's administrators to accept or reject such certification, and extenuating circumstances will be taken into account.
