Discover Erasmus+ Opportunities: One-Week Programs at European Universities!

Attention all BGU staff members: an exciting opportunity awaits you!

Through the Erasmus+ program, you can experience a week at prestigious universities across Europe.

This incredible program is open to administrative, technical, and academic staff, offering both training and teaching mobility options.

Why Participate?

Expand Your Horizons: Gain new perspectives and insights by immersing yourself in a different academic and cultural environment.

Professional Development: Enhance your skills and knowledge through specialized training programs or by sharing your expertise through teaching engagements.

Networking: Build valuable connections with peers and professionals from universities across Europe.

The Erasmus+ Program

The Erasmus+ Program is a European funding program established in 1987 offering university staff members and students the possibility of studying or doing other activities abroad in a European University.

BGU staff members (administrative, technical and academic staff) may travel to that University for training or teaching.

Travels may be for 2 different purposes:
- Training (for professional improvement)
- Teaching (the invited person has to teach minimum 8 frontal hours).

A teaching activity may be combined with a training activity during a single period abroad - the minimum number of hours of teaching per week is then reduced to 4 hours.

(An Erasmus+ Agreement with a European University is being signed only after the EU approval of the Erasmus+ Application done by the European University).

Q&A about staff mobility

Participation is open to all those who are employed at BGU.

This includes all staff members (administrative, technical and academic) and all external lecturers, PhD and Mater students hired for short periods.

All you need is a target University from the list of Outgoing Staff options where you may fulfill a teaching or training mobility.
We will help you finding a host.

These mobilities may be for 2 different purposes:

  • - Training (for professional improvement)
  • - Teaching (the invited person has to teach minimum 8 frontal hours).
A teaching activity may be combined with a training activity during a single period abroad - the minimum number of hours of teaching per week is then reduced to 4 hours.

Training mobility is a travel for professional development.

It may include personal meetings, shadowing a colleague in a parallel position to yours, it may be learning about a new equipment or lab procedure and so on.

Teaching mobility:
The hosting program for a Teaching Erasmus+ Mobility must be of minimum 8 frontal teaching hours (this may be at seminars, part of an ongoing course, at graduate student special meetings, extracurricular special guest lecture, a special professional presentation for staff members etc.)

A teaching activity may be combined with a training activity during a single period abroad - the minimum number of hours of teaching per week is then reduced to 4 hours.

Erasmus+ program funds are for the cover of travel expenses, living expenses as defined by the European Union.

A fixed amount is allocated per mobility and may vary for each country and University.
Funding is received from the European University directly by the faculty member.

Funding is received from the European University directly by the faculty member. Each university has its own procedures for fund transfers: some require a boarding pass, some pay in cash, others by bank transfer, and some disburse part of the funds upon arrival and the rest at the end, while others provide the full amount at the beginning. The best way to understand the specific process is to politely contact and ask your host.

BGU staff member may travel to a European University only after BGU has signed an Erasmus+ agreement with that University.

If you are a member of the Academic Staff, you can reach out to your colleague at the European University and request that they contact their International Office to promote an Erasmus+ program.
The European University submits the application to the EU.
If the application is approved by the EU, an agreement with BGU may be signed based on the funds granted by the EU.
The European University will specify the number of available "spots" (allocations) for teaching or training mobility to and from BGU in the Inter-Institutional Agreement. (See the list of spots available for BGU staff members.)

If you are a member of the Academic Staff, you can invite a colleague from the European University to come to BGU. (See Incoming Staff Options )

Or, you may invite European students to come for a semester.
Incoming Students page.

BGU staff members may invite colleagues to work together, collaborate in research or other activities from European University, see This List

Staff members may also invite students to come to BGU for one semester (as Exchange students).
