Sam Zuckerberg Scholarship
Earn a one-year Master’s degree in the UK
The Sam Zuckerberg scholarship provides an opportunity for BGU graduates to earn a one-year MA degree at Oxford Brookes University, in Oxford, England. The scholarship covers fees, accommodation, and a contribution towards living expenses up to a total of £25,000 for the Academic Year starting September 2025. The living expenses contribution will be paid for 50 weeks, but should the student decide to return home early, payment will stop when they leave Oxford.
Applicants should fulfill the following criteria:
- Wish to study for a one-year full-time master’s degree at Oxford Brookes University
- Have a good standing undergraduate degree from BGU (equivalent to a 1st/2:1)
- Be under 35 years of age
- Have an offer of a place on an Oxford Brookes Masters’ degree course by the end of March 2025
- Have an IELTS score of 6.0-7.0 overall (last test date May 2025). The IELTS result is valid for 2 years
- Have relevant work experience (if necessary)
- Be prepared and able to present BGU and Israel in a positive light to faculty and fellow students on Campus
- Return to Israel upon completion of the scholarship
- Be in financial need
- Not previously studied in the UK
- Not previously received financial assistance to study abroad

Once applicants have submitted their application as described above, applicants should then write a cover letter in English (no more than 500 words), confirming that they have applied for admission to the university, stating which program they have applied for, and explaining both how they meet the criteria and why they should be considered for the scholarship.
This letter together with your CV and a copy of the admission offer, should be sent directly to Dr. Stavi Baram stavi@bgu.ac.il at Ben-Gurion University to be received no later than March 31st, 2025
The selection process will be completed by May 31st, 2025.

Additional Information
- Accommodation is provided up to the end of August for one person. If the student is married and wishes to bring his or her family, any additional cost will be the responsibility of the student themselves and would not be included in the scholarship.
Keep in mind that you may need to look into renting privately. - It is recommended that the student should stay in the UK up until the end of August in order to meet regularly with their tutor and complete their dissertation.
- To avoid a penalty charge, return flights should not be booked too far in advance until the student knows their commitments and timetable for June, July and August.
- The candidate should familiarize themselves with the visa regulations for the UK well in advance and ensure that they place a timely application with ALL relevant materials.
- The award will not fund travel to and from Israel, student visa fees, books or dissertation printing / binding costs.
